Pre-Register for Apple iPhone 3G in India with Vodafone

Advertisements

Vodafone India has started pre-registering customers for the iPhone 3G from Apple. Apple iPhone which was released early this month was scheduled for a September release in India. Apart from Vodafone, Airtel is also bringing iPhone 3G to India. Vodafone has not disclosed when the iPhone will be available or the price. But it has mentioned that 3G will be available. The interesting aspect here is that Indian government has as yet to issue final guidelines on the auction of 3G spectrum and licenses in India.

iPhone 3G in India

Pre-Registering is simple process and all you need is to fill in your name, email ID, your phone number. Once its available Vodafone will update you with details on pricing plans and other offers. Vodafone website also says that there will be 2 variants, the 8GB and 16GB versions.

This could be an attempt by Vodafone to capture iPhone market in India before Airtel announces any plans. You can pre-register on Vodafone home page.

    I wonder whether India has any 3G circles in operation. I can only think of 4 or 5 metros in India that MAY currently have 3G services, or, plan to start at. And it will be even stranger, when people from other cities buy the iPhone. I guess educating the masses about 3G is more relevant than simply bragging about their (Vodafone) new possession.

    @DWiner,
    Currently India does not have 3G network, once it comes it will be available in all cities. Govt is already in the process of finalizing the auction for 3G.

    It would be great if 8GB model is available for $199, about Rs. 8000-9000. That would make changes in mobile phone market in India.

    thanks for the information…I just booked one for me.

    @Pavan - cost seems to be around 8000-9000 but there will be hidden cost like u may have to subscribe to some 2 year plan of airtel or vodaphone which would again increase its cost.
