Wordpress 2.6 Beta 1 Released

Wordpress team has released a Beta version of upcoming Wordpress 2.6 today. The features of Wordpress 2.6 was already discussed previously and 2.6 is being planned for a mid July release. Wordpress 2.6 is not a major release like 2.5, but still there are lots of features under the hood.

Features of Wordpress 2.6;

  • Post Revisioning, so that you wont lose any data.
  • A “Press This” bookmarklet
  • Caching of static files with Google Gears for faster Admin page loading
  • A new and improved image editing dialog
  • Theme previewing
  • Built-in word counting in the post editor
  • Better SSL support for the Admin
  • Bulk delete, activate, and deactivate for plugins
  • Drag-and-drop sortable galleries
  • Lots of bug fixes and performance improvements

    I have been testing out WordPress 2.6.1 and definitely like the new features.

    I think it will not pop itself up in the admin dashboard till the full version is out…

    It is only a beta release…Certain features are really good…I too have expressed my opinion on this beta release on my blog…
