Google Blogoscoped has got reliable information that Gmail will support themes in the coming months. He has also mentioned that there will be 12 themes to start with like a black-and-green “terminal” view, as well as a flowery view. There are already many ways to customize the look of Gmail with third-party tools like GreaseMonkey or custom user stylesheets.

Recently Google had added theme for iGoogle, now lets wait and see if Google adds themes for Gmail.

    Added a theme to gmail will be fun but also it will load slower!

    I would definitely love to see themes added to Gmail, they are the only missing piece in the otherwise great service

    This is good. I don’t trust any third party things to modify themes or anything on Gmail. Its best to use what they make as it will be secure,faster and less on issues.

    @Ashish,
    Even I too dont like customizing it with Grease Monkey scripts.

    I just got themes on my Gmail account, its really really cool. There is one for ninjas, and one for planets, but they aren’t customizable. Never the less, they are really cool. On top of that, around ten of them, if you supply what city you live in, change throughout the day. I don’t think this has gone past random people getting the theme upgrade thing, because I am the only one ((That I know of at least)) in my area that has it.

    I just received notice today that Google themes were available. There are quite a few to choose from & I am having no issues with loading the page with the new theme. I’m glad to see this new feature.
