Wordpress 2.5 Released
ADVERTISEMENTSThe much awaited version of Wordpress, 25. has been released and available for public download. Most of us might have tried the RC which was released last week. Wordpress 2.5 has lot of features and improvements over the last version. The prominent feature is the improved dashboard with a new theme.
The improvements in 2.5 are numerous, and almost entirely a result of your feedback: multi-file uploading, one-click plugin upgrades, built-in galleries, customizable dashboard, salted passwords and cookie encryption, media library, a WYSIWYG that doesn’t mess with your code, concurrent post editing protection, full-screen writing, and search that covers posts and pages.
Few notable features are;
- New dashboard, which is cleaner, faster and less cluttered.
- Multiple file upload with progress bar.
- Better tag management
- Automatic upgrade of plugins.
- In built galleries for photos.
NB: When upgrading to new version, its recommended to take a backup of your blog and database. Not all plugins will be compatible with the new version.

Nirmal, Is there any list of compatible plugins for WP 2.5?? coz its nice to checkout the plugin compatibility and then upgrade.

I think, i am among the first 10 people to download the latest version. It was after 15 mins after i downloaded the 2.5 version, they announced it officially in their blog.

i hope plugins i am using works well with 2.5 as well or i’ll miss many things aloooot, look wise wp 2.5 is amazing easy on eyes i also wrote an article when wp 2.5 was in rc1

I will wait for a few days before upgrading. It is better to test it locally first with all the plugins.

Upgraded. So far so good. With the automatic plugins upgrade thing, my plugins are also upgraded.

Me too upgraded to 2.5 and written a post too.
I just love the “one-click-plugin-upgrading”. It’s very nice and handy..Not to mention the new archives option. It can do what earlier needed a plugin
And, the overall look is refreshing.
