Technology Advancement: 1GB Now and 20 Year Ago

The advancement in Technology is so high that now everything is becoming more and more compact. Here is an image which depicts the advancement in technology. This picture shows 1GB 20 years ago which was made by IBM and to the side of this is the current 1GB memory card (held by a person). Isn’t this amazing?

  1. Nice one….

  2. Thanks a nice share Nirmal. We even have much smaller 1gb cards from micro SD cards today. But just imagine, how big the old hard disk is, it will need a 2 HP motor it seems. :)

  3. Yeah, amazing stuff. I remembered when I got my first Ipod I was like ‘This lil thing has 20gb’ and my ancient laptop has only 4gb!

  4. Wow… that’s really amazing.

    :-)

  5. Well maybe 20 years from now we may see just a small piece of hardware as thick as a hair storing 100 Gigs of data :grin:

  6. @MobilejGames,
    Yea, we have now micro SD cards.

    @Keith,
    Well that could happen soon, may not take 20 years. :smile:

  7. Wow Nice One…..

    @ Keith @nirmal
    100gigs as thin as a hair… Wonder who will make a attachment slot for that and how will you prevent is from getting lost :lol:

  9. The first PC my dad bought about 15 years ago, for himself ofcourse ( i wasn’t born then :P ) had a 1.19 GB HD and had 16 Mb ram :D He payed 50K for it at that time. People now are not ready to buy it even at 1K lol :D

    Yes, that’s a point to be noted. Maybe we will have robots at that time that will do the work. Or just think about Microsoft Surface: You keep the hair sized thing on the table = Device found! hehe lol

  11. @Kanak,
    Difficult question to answer, but then it could happen too. :grin: or may be like Keshav said we’ll have robots.
