Download Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1
Microsoft has posted new page for Internet Explorer 8 beta download and also a page for new features available in the latest version. Although the links for download are not available yet, but the links could be active soon. Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 download link should be soon available.

The new features added are;
1. Activities
Activities are contextual services to quickly access a service from any webpage. Users typically copy and paste from one webpage to another. Internet Explorer 8 Activities make this common pattern easier to do.

2. Automatic Crash Recovery
Automatic Crash Recovery (ACR) is a feature of Windows®Internet Explorer® 8 that can help to prevent the loss of work and productivity in the unlikely event of the browser crashing or hanging.

3. WebSlices
WebSlices is a new feature for websites to connect to their users by subscribing to content directly within a webpage. WebSlices behave just like feeds where clients can subscribe to get updates and notify the user of changes.

4. Favorites Bar
In Internet Explorer 7, the Links bar provided users with one-click access to their favorite sites. The Links bar has undergone a complete makeover for Internet Explorer 8.

5.Improved Phishing Filter
Internet Explorer 7 introduced the Phishing Filter, a feature which helps warn users when they visit a Phishing site. Phishing sites spoof a trusted legitimate site, with the goal of stealing the user’s personal or financial information.
Update: The download links are active now.

I don’t think anything substantial in it as compared to other browser but lets see how it develops. BTW I am trying Firefox Beta5 pre downloaded today and it looks that Firefox 3.0 is shaping to be a big improvement over Firefox 2.0 (not to mention IE 7.0)

Yeah, links are working now. I just downloaded the latest version. IE is taking giant steps to compete with FF.

Good to see IE 8 so soon. It’s about time that MS starts to keep pace with the competition.
Personally I feel the features 1, 3 & 4 are bloats. Nevertheless it’s good for developers. IE 6/7 was a headache as was not web complaint. IE 8 should set the records straight.
Go IE 8! MS release IE for Mac too.. (ok, kidding
)

Nice review, Nirmal. But I wonder whether it is really worth to download a beta? Even Firefox betas are not very good.
On a sidenote, Firefox and Opera betas are blazing fast, and IE seems to be going back to the trailin-every-other-browser thingy.

Nice move by Microsoft! No. 2 and no.5 are the most important feature imo.
