Aero glass effects is one of the new features introduced in Vista. But this feature is not available in all versions of Vista and there are few basic requirements for aero to work. Lets see what are the requirements.

Windows Aero is the premium visual experience of Windows Vista. The best part of Windows Aero experience is Windows Flip 3D, which is a way to preview your open windows in 3D stacks.

Requirements for Vista Aero Glass effects:

  • 1-GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 1 gigabyte (GB) of RAM
  • 128-MB graphics card
  • DirectX 9 class graphics processor that supports a Windows Display Driver Model Driver, Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware, and 32 bits per pixel.
  • Monitor refresh rate is higher than 10 hertz
  • Color Scheme selected should be Windows Aero
  • Aero works only in Windows Vista Business, Windows Vista Enterprise, Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows Vista Ultimate versions.

If your computer has these features, then Vista Aero effects should work fine.

  4. The feature is great . It basically needs a graphics card and it can even work on 512 MB ram if you have a graphics card.

    You are right, with a good graphics card you can have Aero effects.
