Joomla! community has released the latest version of their content management software Joomla 1.5. Joomla is more towards content management unlike wordpress, which is mostly used for blogging. Joomla has lot of features like the Wordpress and 1000s of plugin support. Joomla! 1.5 boasts remarkable advances over Joomla! 1.0 in the areas of extensibility, usability and internationalization. Building extensions is vastly easier and faster because of the comprehensive new API.

Features of Joomla 1.5
- Administrator is more refined and the main menu simplified.
- Improved media manager and browse media folders
- Multi-delete capability, batch file uploads, and an ability to view media in icon and list formats.
- Search engine friendly URL’s and many more new features, check out the complete list from here.
Joomla is a great software for content management and I had used it for a couple of other sites I had designed.
Check out the screenshots of latest version and improvements over the previous one.

I have always considered Drupal to be more elegant in its architecture but the newly overhauled Joomla 1.5 definitely begs for attention. I have already downloaded it and will give it a whirl sometime today to check out theobvious improvements. Thanks for the heads up Nirmal!
@Shankrila,
I feel Joomla is bit more easier to use for a newbie than Drupal, whats your opinion.
Nirmal, that is very true but Joomla was also confusing with the wide range of menu options in the admin panel. Drupal had a higher learning curve but once you get the hang of it, a user can appreciate it. Again, Joomla has tried to just that – clean up a lot of the mess so it could definitely be what I say Drupal is, in the new release.
@Shankrila,
Thats true, Joomla’s wide range of menu was always confusing for me. I think this is what the new version has, looks like more compact.
I used to use Joomla for quite a lot of time on my blog earlier and found it to be too complicated for the user.
The administration was quite confusing so I promptly switched to WordPress.
@Keith,
Joomla is little complicated for starters and even the menus are bit tough to understand, but once you master it, its having lot of features than Wordpress.
