Sony Ericsson P1i Review

Sony Ericsson finally launched the P1i series after a long gap since the P990i. The P1i series is a phone that is packed with features and offers good a value for money. Well Sony Ericsson P1i is a different league of phone, which has all the features of smart phone and is a PDA. The newly designed P1i looks very much different from the older versions.

Features and Design:

The design of P1i looks completely different from P990i. The keypad & design looks similar to the M600i. P1i has a large 2.6 in TFT touch screen display with VGA camera for video calls. The keypad has 2 letters on each key. This position of keys could be difficult at times to type unless you get accustomed to it.

P1i is powered by Symbian UIQ v3.1. It has Quick office, PDF reader and a business card reader. It sis powered by 128 MB RAM and M2 memory card which can be expandable upto 4GB. On the connectivity front, its supports 3G, WiFi, but one thing which is sadly or surprisingly missing is the support for EDGE. It also supports USB 2.0, Infrared, A2DP for bluetooth. the phone pack comes with USB cable, desk stand charger, software CD and1GB card.

Performance:

Multitasking is good with P1i with its improved RAM. P1i opens all documents using the bundled application. The camera is 3.2MP with auto focus. Camera is one of the strong points of this phone and many other PDAs lack good camera. The Camera in P1i is really good with LED flash. The music player is also good one with the bundled headphones. The WiFi installed with Opera browser works well. The battery is also on the good side considering the multimedia usage.

Final verdict:

P1i is a great smartphone cum PDA to have, except for the unusaul keypad and lack of EDGE, there is nothing which this phone really lacks. P1i can rather be called as a multimedia smartphone. If EDGE is your priority then you have the Nokia E61i, but irs not as entertaining as this one. The Sony Ericsson P1i is priced around Rs19,600/- and for this price its definitely value for money considering the features it has to offer.
