Nokia Latest Model: N82, Successor to N95?

ADVERTISEMENTS

Nokia had recently unveiled another top end phone to the N-Series category, the N82. N82 is said to be the successor to the top end and popular model N95. Is it really the successor to N95, lets check it. N82 has a lot of additional features which were not available in N73. N95 and N73 were 2 of the most popular N-Series phone. One of the major problem with N95 is the size, it was too big and difficult to use although it had all the features not available in other phones.

N82

N82 features a 5MP camera along with build in GPS navigation and host of other features which are available in N95. One of the best things about N82 is that its much compatible than N95 and also a candy-bar shape design which makes the device feel less bulky.

The specifications of N82 are;

  • Dimensions: 112 x 50.2 x 17.3 mm
  • 2.4? TFT Display,16M colors
  • 5 Megapixel camera with autofocus
  • GPRS, EDGE, 3G, WiFi
  • Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP
  • Symbian OS 9.2
  • GPS navigation
  • 3.5 mm jack,TV out

The 5MP camera is similar to N95 with Carl Zeiss lens which can capture MPEG-4 VGA video at 30fps. The best part of camera is the addition of xenon flash which was missing in N95 (N95 had a LED flash). K850i from Sony Ericsson also features this Xenon flash.

The display of N82 is also good, the screen is 2.4-inch compared to the 2.6-inch screen on N95. Coming to the keyboard, this one one aspect which is disappointing. The keys are small and difficult to handle and is similar to the one in N73.

Feature wise, N82 is packed with all the applications and comes with a full fledged web browser, email, calendering, maps etc. One of the problems with earlier N-series phones were that they were pretty slow to respond. N82 has a much improved processor and works well, although at times, it gets slow.

N82 looks very much similar to N73 and there has been no significant change in design, this is one area where Nokia could improve. Apart from the average keypad and design, N82 is packed with features to be the next winner in N-Series. N82 is priced around Rs. 21000/- (1USD=39INR).

Given the price and features, N82 is a good phone and if you have money go for it.

  6. @Zath,
You are right, the key design is a bit awkward.

  7. have had my ‘baby’ for a month now, and gotta say i love her to bits, hehe. like u guys i was apprehensive about the keypad, but funnily enough i’ve become used to it, and can sms as fast as i did onmy last phone, a nokia 6288. Function wise, this phone is da bomb, and pretty fast too , since it has more RAM than the n95. i just updated the firmware, and boy is it zippy now. almost like it wasn’t a symbian phone, haha
