How to Change Font Smoothing in Safari Browser

Advertisements

Safari Browser has the in-built feature of rendering websites in a manner similar to anti-aliasing. This is known as font smoothing. This feature is enabled by default and the looks are good when compared to other browsers. This feature of font smoothing can be changed.

Navigate to Edit-> Preferences-> Appearance (Tab)

The appearance window has the option to change the level of font smoothing. There are four options, namely Standard, Light, Medium and Strong. Based on your monitor, you can set it to desired option.

Changing the font smoothing option does not effect the performance of the browser in any way.

If you have not yet downloaded the Windows version of Safari Browser, you can download it here.

    Ask me and i will never do this ;) . Guess what, One reason I used to like IE7 was this coz the fonts will appear so smooth. Never happened in Mozilla, so the site wont look that good in mozilla. Do you know how I can enable this in Mozilla ? Havnt switched to safari yet :(, need to give it a try :) .

    Websites looks gorgeous on a Mac and if you want to have the same look on Windows, then you got to enable “Clear Type” or use Safari.

    Nice tip. :cool:

    By the way, what’s the color of the mouse pointer while inside Safari?

    @Kanak,
    You can enable it by enabling ClearType in Windows XP.

    @Ashwin,
    Mouse pointer remains the same color for me.
