We use memory cards in variety of devices like Digital Camera, Mobile phones, PDA or any other gadgets, but we need to know about the compatible memory card format. Universal Flash Storage (UFS) is the newly proposed common flash storage specification for digital cameras, mobile phones and consumer electronic devices. It is the open standards based specification for standardization of removable flash memory.

Features of this new standard are;

  • High Data Transfer speed.
  • High speed access to large files.
  • Greater storage capacities.
  • Decrease in power consumption.
  • One size to fit in all devices which is the most important of all.

The new standard is already accepted by top companies like Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung etc. This new standard is supposed to be finalized by 2009.

    @Shashank,
