Do you know that Random post plugin could help you resurrect your old and dying posts in your archives grave?
Every post that you create on your blog, no matter it’s a pillar posts or babbling posts, will enter to their ‘dying phase’ if it has disappeared from the homepage and not able to get any attention from Search Engine. There are several ways that blogger do to re-call their soul so it would die easily. One simple way of doing this is to internal linking to the posts and it will resurrect one more time. The problem here is can you keep linking back to your old posts on each of your new entry?
Its impossible if you have lots of pillar posts inside your blog archives. But some people have a nice idea comes up to help us resolving this problem using a plugin.
Basically, there are 2 type of plugin that will help you:
- StumbleUpon type
- List type
StumbleUpon type random post plugin will help reader find posts inside your blog with one click. It’s like Google’s lucky search feature. It will throw you to a random entry with one click on a button or link that you created.
On the other hand, List type plugin is better option than that. It will help you choosing random posts from your database and display it to your blog automatically. It’s beneficial because on each time your reader refresh or click through the other page on your blog, it will pick a new post. The more visitors you have, the more exposure the older posts get. I’ve seen some positive exposure to my dying posts as if they are resurrecting from the grave of archive. Since the change of my blog theme, I have implemented a new system on the “read more” section. You also could find a “random posts” section within them and on the homepage in the sidebar.
Since implementing this feature is not a harm at all, why don’t you try to apply it and see what’s the effect for your blog? You can download the plugin here.

Good plugins…
This is true, once you post your post, it will remain fresh for about a week or 2 weeks, depending on the topic…
these plugins can definately help your old post give a kind of rebirth which can gave more no. of subscribers in the end…
Good tips there, Ken.
But I don’t think readers use the Stumbleupon type link often. For us, it may be a cool add. But I don’t think a good ratio of visitors shuffle through posts.
Nice tip Ken . This is a good way of giving more exposure to your old posts.
Vaibhav, yes that’s right. I resurrect my blog post with this plugin actually especially the list type random post. It’s pretty useful.
Shankar, I agree. It seems cool but not a good performance plugin. I have put away this type of random post away from my blog. I remembered the clickthrough rate was lower than adsense CTR!
Madhur, thanks for your encourage!
I agree with Shankar, no one clicks random posts link. But random posts list may be useful
Well, I am trying and resurrecting few posts I had written quite some time ago by linking back to them from newer posts. Does get readers to read the older posts.
I recently added a Rel=”NoFollow” attribute to the “Random Post” link on my blog for the reason that I was seeing them as a Page in Google Webmasters Tools while it’s not so… The Google cache shows different content for this page at different time and I am not sure if that has some negative impact on blog or not…
Using this attribute I wanted Google to stop following it… what do you feel… is this a issue worth looking into or not?
Random post list is really good, other one is not that good when compared to list.
Thanks for share plugin..:)
