Keyboard shortcuts are always important if need to save time and it also helps to improve productivity. It also give more continuity while using the computer as every time you don’t have to use the mouse to navigate. So here is the list of keyboard shortcuts for Windows.
1. Windows Program Keys:
- CTRL+C: Copy
- CTRL+X: Cut
- CTRL+V: Paste
- CTRL+Z: Undo
- CTRL+B: Bold
- CTRL+U: Underline
- CTRL+I: Italic
2. Windows System Keys:
- F1: Help
- CTRL+ESC: Open Start menu
- ALT+TAB: Switch between open programs
- ALT+F4: Quit program
- SHIFT+DELETE: Delete item permanently
3. General Folder/Windows Explorer keys:
- F2: Rename object
- F3: Find all files
- SHIFT+DELETE: Delete selection immediately, without moving the item to the Recycle Bin
- ALT+ENTER: Open the properties for the selected object
- F4: Select the Go To A Different Folder box and moves down the entries in the box
- F5: Refreshes the current window.
- F6: Moves among panes in Windows Explorer
- CTRL+G: Open Go To Folder tool
- CTRL+Z: Undo last command
- CTRL+A: Select all items in the current window
- BACKSPACE: Switch to the parent folder
- SHIFT+click+ Close button: For folders, close the current folder plus all parent folders
4. Windows Explorer keys:
- Numeric Keypad *: Expand everything under current selection
- Numeric Keypad +: Expand current selection
- Numeric Keypad -: Collapse current selection
- RIGHT ARROW: Expand current selection if it is not expanded, otherwise goes to the first child
- LEFT ARROW: Collapse current selection if it is expanded, otherwise goes to the parent
Copy a File: Press and hold down CTRL key while you drag file to another folder.
Create a Shortcut: Press and hold down CTRL+SHIFT while you drag file to the desktop or a folder.

As a long time web developer and photoshop user I can definately recommend that everyone learn these shortcuts. Why do you need the mouse to do everything, you do have 2 hands remember

Generally I prefer to use Key board shortcuts, thats why I write more about shortcuts.
CTRL+ESC: Open Start menu
Isn’t windows button available in all keyboards..
also there are some windows based shortcuts also like
Win+E : My computerit
Win+U+U : shutdown
Nice list i also learned a few
good list comes handy .
@steve ,2 hands we remember but when 1 hand(mouse) can do thing it saves other hand for you so that u can move in your hair/take sip of tea/chat with other colleagues in finger sign language with that free hand

some other shorcuts:
CTRL+Y: re-do (you mentioned CTRL+Z but not this one)
window+M: minimize (all open programs)
window+D: desktop (similar minimize, shows desktop)
CTRL+tab: switch between tabs in a program
firefox:
CTRL+T: new tab
CTRL+shift+T: open closed tab
… Im sure I gave you an idea for a future post

i usually use keyboard shortcuts for navigation, why depend on JERRY
My favourite shortcut is this:
Press Windows Key,
then Press ‘U’ twice.
It shuts down your PC.

That’s a good one. I know most of #1 and #3, but the rest has got me stumped. Thanks – it certainly will take some time to remember, though.
Windows key + U+U is indeed a wonderful shortcut.
Also
You can replace the last U with R,H to do restart..hibernation respectively

The Windows + U is opening the utility manager for me, so I’m not able to use Win + U + U.

Actually there are two shortcuts with win key
If you keep pressing win key and then press U it will open utility manager .
press Winkey + U + U means pressing one key at a time don’t keep anything pressed…

I got it now, I was using the U with Windows key pressed.
Nice list, the first thing I always do while using a new software is learning the shortcuts as I rarely use the mouse
