Hide Advertisements in Yahoo! Mail
The new beta version Yahoo! mail has a banner ad at the right hand side with can be intrusive for some users. People many times complain that they use Gmail more than Yahoo! because of the fact that Gmail features only text ads, whereas Yahoo has banner ads.
The skyscraper banner ads that features in Yahoo mail can be turned off using the feature given by Yahoo!.

All you need is to click the arrow button on the side of the ads and the ads are gone for the particular window. But this is only a temporary solution as the ads appear again when you click any other mail or windows like Inbox, drafts etc.
If you need to permanently block these ads, you need to get the Yahoo mail Plus account. I still feel Yahoo! mail has great features and UI to attract more users.

Hi Nirmal.. nice tip! I don’t use Yahoo mail but I came across this Greasemonkey script that’s supposed to take care of this everytime you login including the left side ads! It might work for you..
Oops.. here is the link!
nice script k-inthehouse…lemme try…but will it affect performance?
I have a yahoo mail plus account so I don’t see any ads. I got yahoo mail plus because I wanted to use it with my outlook.
Indyank,
I use a bunch of Greasemonkey scripts for various sites but performance hasn’t been a problem. Again, like Firefox extensions, since they are written by individuals and you might hit a bad one once in a while.
Shameless plug: I am posting a top 15 greasemonkey scripts for Gmail & Google Reader tomorrow for anyone interested.
If you must use yahoo mail, just use adblock
@K-InHouse,
I Have heard about the script, but never tried it.
Gr€at tip, Nirmal. Thanks for sharing
now i am used to see those advertisements

this post will be a killer one if you can think how to block the ads permanently. i wonder if adblock plus can do this.
I don’t use Yahoo Mail, but can come in handy anytime. Thanks for the tip
Nirmal, this doesn’t work for me, whenever i click on new mail or inbox or some thing that Ads again starts appearing damn its so frustrating since it takes up 10% of screen space.
Okay, perfect. the site isn’t working anymore. could you upload the script any place else?
