An easy way to edit your sidebar without messing things up is using the Widgets function of WordPress. Very handy the preview blog plug in, I always have to apply the new theme to see how it will look. Muito útil na ficha de pré-visualização blog, eu tenho de aplicar o novo tema para ver como ele irá olhar.
Another way I do to test before applying it is using the maintenance mode plug in, during the maintenance mode is activated I can apply the new theme and take a look at it before making it official live. Outra maneira de eu fazer teste antes de aplicá-la é utilizando o modo de manutenção plug in, durante o modo de manutenção é activado eu posso aplicar o novo tema e dar uma olhada antes de torná-lo oficial ao vivo.

The only problem with Maintenance mode plugin is that readers are not able to see the blog unless you finish editing, but with Live preview, you always edit and test your theme. O único problema com o modo plugin é Manutenção leitores que não são capazes de ver o blog, a menos que você terminar de editar, mas com Live preview, você semper editar e testar o seu tema.

I am guilty of making changes on my live site because I don’t have access to a test site. Eu sou culpado de fazer mudanças no meu site, porque eu vivo não tem acesso ao local de ensaio. I always test changes on a rarely used page like 404 or the search results page to avoid it affecting anyone (hopefully!). Semper testar alterações em uma página é raramente utilizado como 404 ou página de resultados da pesquisa para evitar qualquer pessoa que tenha afectado (espero!). That preview theme plugin will be useful. Preview plugin tema que vai ser útil.
As for backing up files, I always keep a copy of my theme on my harddrive every few days. Como para fazer o backup de arquivos, eu nunca a uma cópia do meu tema no meu disco rígido cada poucos dias. As I mess things up regularly, they have come in very handy quite often! Como eu baralhar as coisas regularmente, elas vêm em muito acessível, muito frequentemente!

Nice post I did indeed mess up my theme when I simply overwrote some files and had no backups but now I use SVN to store all the theme files so I can have proper versions of files. Nice post que fiz asneira na verdade o meu tema quando eu simplesmente substituíram alguns arquivos e não tinha backups, mas agora eu uso SVN para armazenar todos os arquivos do tema para que eu possa ter bom versões dos arquivos.

Good post, while I don’t really use wordpress anymore, I’ve had my fair share of theme updates which always translated to catastrophic failure. Bom post, embora eu realmente não uso wordpress nunca mais, eu tive a minha parte justa do tema actualizações que se traduziu a falha catastrófica.

Thanks for the tip on the preview plugin! Obrigado pela dica sobre o plugin preview! Sometimes, when I do want to make a quick amendment, I would open up 2 screen tabs of the same page that I want to work on, one that shows the original script, the other for amendment. Às vezes, quando eu quiser fazer uma alteração rápida, gostaria de abrir 2 abas tela da mesma página que gostaria de trabalhar, uma mostra de que o script original, outra para a alteração. So when the changes don’t look right, I’ll just do a save on that untouched page that’s showing on the other tab. Assim, quando as alterações não olha bem, eu vou apenas fazer uma economizar em que intocado da página mostrando que no outro guia.

Good suggestions there. Boas sugestões ali. I usually test everything locally using Xampp. Eu costumo testar tudo localmente usando XAMPP. That plugin looks interesting though. Esse plugin parece interessante embora.

I wish, I knew about Preview Theme plugin some days ago. Eu desejo, eu sabia sobre Preview Theme plugin alguns dias atrás. I had to put my site on maintenance mode and then do my testing on it.
