5 Tips to Increase Traffic

Few of my readers had asked me to write a few tips on increasing traffic to the blog. If you need to establish in the blogoshere and make some money out of blogging, then you need traffic. Although there has been many posts on this topic, I’m explaining 5 simple tips, which I feel can definitely bring traffic to your blog.
- Content is the King: This point needs no explanation as content is the ultimate thing which drives traffic. It’s not enough to provide the same news as every other blogger in your niche topic. You have to come up with something new and unique and provide some analysis. If you need to say something through your blog, say it well and clear.
- Read Blogs and Comment: This is again a good way to bring some quality traffic to your blog. Read other popular blogs and also blogs which are related to your topic and post valuable comment. Posting comments definitely makes your presence felt, but make sure that you don’t spam blogs by posting comments.
- Add tags and concentrate on SEO: Tags and Keywords are important from the point of view of Search engines. You need to make your blog search engine friendly. There are lots of plugins for SEO and also tutorials on how to do SEO for your blog.
- Encourage Reader Participation: To make every new reader a regular reader you need to offer something new. You need to encourage participation either in the form of comments or through polls or contest. If you have some money, best way is to hold some contest as contests are easily noticed in the blogosphere. But remember, do not give any false contest just to get some traffic as this may effect your blog status.
- Make use of Social Sites: Social sites are always useful and among these, popular ones like Digg and Stumble Upon can really bring good amount of traffic. As I said before if you write good content, then your posts are automatically shared through Social sites.

Promote yourself. If you have written a good article, sumbit it to Digg. Send links to fellow bloggers.

Since maximum traffic depends on search engine if you dont have a large reader base. Hence make your post title search engine friendly.
Also , take out yourself from google’s supplement index. Came to know about this yesterday. Seems like many blogs see a rise in search engine traffic by pulling out your pages from google’s supplement index.
Alexa and google Analytics are best option to analyze your sites traffic from countries and hence will guide you where you need to do your blog’s promotion.

Been following your blog through Google Reader. However, sometimes we need to come to the actually blog and leave a comment and say “Thank you”
nice tips nirmal. Stumbleupon pulls lot of traffic. if you write a good article, stumble sends the traffic for few weeks.
Nowadays i am looking into social sites seriously for the first time.

Thats true, Stumble Upon can send you traffic for a long time. A post in July got me around 40k page views in August.
