Yahoo! Photos Announces Closing Date

Today I was reading Nitesh’s blog and he has posted about the closing date of Yahoo Photos. I logged into my photos account and noticed that Yahoo has put up a huge caption displaying the closing date - 20th September 2007, i.e. 98 days from today.

Yahoo had already announced that it would be closing down Yahoo Photos for Flickr.

Yahoo has given three options for users.

  • Users can move their photos to Flickr, Kodak Gallery, Shutterfly, Snapfish and Photobucket. These option can be found on the home page.
  • Second option is to download all the photos, but this is suggested if you have a small account with less than 20 photos or so.
  • Third option is to order CD which will cost you 6.95$ plus shipping charges.

If you don’t chose between one of the options, all the photos would be deleted by 20th September.

I’m bit confused about where to move my photos. I have a good collection of photos at Flickr and Kodak. So where are you planning to move?

If yahoo photos is closing down, then Google will bring in something great.

I look sad  This was my first photo sharing site I used!!! but I don’t have any worries about the move. Since all I have there is obsolete photos

It’s really not likely that Yahoo will provide a possiblity to move stuff to Google.
If you have your stuff at FlickR don’t move it, it’s definitly the best place to be.
