Each Sony Ericsson phone has an inbuilt software and these softwares gets updated with lot of fixes for bugs and enhancements. But when the new version of software is released, how do you update the software? In this post I will discuss how to update the firmware or Software of your Sony Ericsson phone.
Requirements:
- Java Runtime Environment which can be downloaded from here.
- Sony Ericsson PC Suite which is available in the CD or you can download from SE website.
- Sony Ericsson Update Service or SEUS Software.
- Drivers for your phone which is available in the CD provided witht the phone
- Flash player
After you install all the software, run the SEUS software. First it will check for any updates. First time when SEUS is used, the animation screen stays for some time. Next you get a screen where you need to select the language you want to display. Now your phone is ready for update and click start to update the phone.
Next you will be prompted to select the type of connection and for this you need to see the bottom of the phone. Select the proper connection type.
Next you have to accept the terms and conditions for updating. Once you accept you will be taken to the main update screen shown below.
Please follow the instruction very carefully. Your battery needs to be charged fully. Turn off the phone, remove the SIM card and replace the battery. Now press and hold C button on your phone and plug the USB cable to the phone.
Once you get this screen, you can release the C button. Your phone will be detected by the software and it will mention the latest software version the phone is currently using and the updates available. If there is no update available, there will be an option to continue, otherwise select the update and proceed. Once you select this, the phone starts updating. Please do not touch the phone while updating as any connection issues with USB will lead to failure of update.
Finally when the update is finished you get this screen.
You can now unplug the USB and your phone is updated with the latest software.
Important: I recommend the SEUS update only if you have a good internet connection without any interruption. The author does not hold any responsibility for any failure of phone due to update, this is only a tutorial for updating. Update at your own risk. I have checked with the local SE service center and they have confirmed that SEUS is convered under warranty. If you have any doubts regarding this please contact your nearest SE service center.

First get the latest software from Sony Ericsson and they install the drivers for your phone in the computer, this is important, otherwise your phone will not be detected.
this was very educational for me because i wanted to upgrade my phone for so long.
but i was wondering if an internet connection of 100.0 Mbps speed if good enough for updating.

Any ideas where i can get it to download
The last resort is to download the SubInACL tool into the C:\ Windows Resource Kits\Tools and to download the reset_fp10.cmd file to the same folder. I got the SubInACL download but can not find the reset file to download.
Note: i have done all the settings in IE as prescribed by Adobe. To be honest i do not believe that the above solution will work as many people are complaining that they have tried and it is not successful.
Please Mr.Groove and guys help i need this flash player . Sony Ericsson …………no comment!

I too have a k850i and I’ve had problems with it on 3 occassions in less than 6 months!
For example, when I go to my inbox or any message folders a box comes up saying “Operation failed.” So I took it back to where I got it and I was told to try using the SEUS as the man in the phone shop had the same problem and when he used it, it solved the problem for him. So I downloaded the SEUS, followed the instructions, got to the part where I switch my phone off, remove the battery, plug in the usb cable and hold down the C button, at which point my phone says its preparing for mass storage… and I dont know where to go from there?
Do I continue to hold the C button, because nothing appears to be happening and I’m unsure if I have to just be patient or if something isnt right?
Any help or information would be greatly appreciated!
