I suggest you use images. I suggest you try fluid width. I suggest you do girly colors or very masculine colors, blue is getting very boring as of lately try to run from it.

I am looking for a new theme to edit for my site. I need the sidebars to load first so that it is handicap accessible as well. (This is my only fault with my current theme and I can’t figure out how to change it.)

Good luck with the theme. How about integrating social bookmarking services in the theme itself? Like this: http://www.sizlopedia.com/2007/04/18/how-to-integrate-web-20-bookmarks-to-your-bl
You can come up with similar images that match up with your theme.
And also, my suggestion is that you can use some icons for your theme. If you need any resources, you can use this: http://www.maxpower.ca/free-icons/2006/03/05/
Icons give a better look, IMHO
