Is there any pop-ups in this blog?
I was faced with a strange problem in the last 2 days. Few of my readers pointed out to me that there are few pop-ups in my blog and suggested me to remove those as readers wont like pop-ups. I was really surprised to hear that there were pop-ups in my blog!
To investigate this, I tried loading my page many times and browsing the pages randomly, but couldnt spot even a single pop-up. I then requested few of my friends to check my blog for any pop-ups.
The response from my friends were really surprising, all my friends who were in India confirmed that there were no pop-ups, but friends in US told me that there are pop-ups for click of all links in my blog. This was shocking news for me as I have not put any ads in my blog!
Ajith from Simple Informations told me that Webstats counter in my blog could lead to pop-ups. So I decided to check it out and I removed the counter from my blog.
I’m still in the process of checking pop-ups. So I request my readers to point out if there were any pop-ups while reading this blog so that I can investigate the source and remove them.

Nirmal I will check your page code tomorrow for any suspects BTE any piece of JavaScript you have on this page can cause a Pop Up.. Check out snything suspicious..
Hey Nirmal. If you think that the pop ups are shown only to US visitors then check your blog using some proxy of US as you are in India. If you think setting up proxy is a big job then you can just logon to sneakyuser.com and check out your site there.

Hey Nirmal, You cannot judge who is causing this pop-ups easily as it can be any free service script you are adding to your code. In my old website, the chat box was causing the pop-ups.
Yep thats what I said any piece of Javascript can cause this….

I checked my site with sneakyuser.com and its didnt have any pop-ups.

Yea its causing because of the free service script. I had removed the webstats counter. I think that was the culprit.

Free javascripts are notorious for having popups, but I have to ask. Are you running WordPress 2.1.2? Because I had popups appear on my blog with 2.1.1 due to their software being hacked on their server. It took me hours to delete the scripts and upgrade.

I think I spotted out the script issue, think it was the webstats counter in my blog. I’m using Wordpress 2.1.2. Thanks for the info
