In my previous post I had mentioned the pathetic state of my computer running on a 128 MB RAM. So last weekend when I went home, I had made up my mind to upgrade it at any cost. So I phoned my father on Friday morning and asked him to enquire the price and purchase a new 256 MB RAM. By Friday evening my father called me up and told that 128 MB was around 800 Rs, so I told him to get this one instead of going for a 256 MB. The benefit of purchasing the 128 is that the existing RAM would still be usable.
I went home by 11.00 pm train on Fri and reached home by 8.00 am. I was quick to spot the newly purchased RAM and without wasting any more time, I installed it into my computer. I could see the difference just by the time it took for booting, it was very quick. Now the long wait for a double click was over. For many now the 256 MB RAM would be insufficient, but for me it was more than enough. Imagine working on a PC that take time for each click. I had removed almost all the softwares to reduce the load on the system and now it was time to reinstall in again. I started installation with WindowBlinds, a desktop based software used to customize the look and feel of Windows XP. I installed the Vista plus theme in my system.

you should get it upgraded to 512MB, let me tell you one thing, when you dont have high speed you dont see the need, but when you have then you feel why were you on slow speed.
I agree with you Kartik, but the usage of my PC is very less, only when I go home on some weekend or so, that y I didnt go for the 512 mb. The PC which I work in office is a 512 mb one and I feel that the speed is not enuf sometimes..:-)
Well, in many cases it is about trading off what you want and what you really need. Surely people who works a lot with graphics editing and playing the latest game will need more capacity of RAM. Anyway, adding up your RAM just for the want of trying something new is not wrong at all. Sometimes, it will lead you to new things to explore which is good for you in term of knowledge.
Cheers!
