Last week I went for Kabul Express, the movie shot completely in Afghan. The move starts with John as TV reporter from India and Arshad his cameraman. They have come to Afghan to get an interview with Taliban. Their search for Taliban is helped by an Afghan national. The first half of the movie shows the destruction caused to the beautifull buildings and structures in Afghan. They land up in Afghanistan for a story and end up being taken hostage — along with their Afghan driver and an American journalist — by an escaping Pakistani Colonel who was a Taliban member. The film also shows the frustrations of people of Afghan towards Taliban regime. There is a scene in Kabir Khan’s directorial debut, Kabul Express, which is actually taken from real life, Afghans who have suffered under the Taliban regime rounding up Taliban members and beating them to death.

It’s the first Indian film to show a true picture of Afghanistan. It shows the plight of Pakistanis caught on the other side after their country was forced to change allegiances by America.

Kabul Express is a good looking film although there are many flaws in the movie. The film is a good effort by debut director and is worth a watch.
