Dhoom II disappoints

The much awaited movie Dhoom II was released last week. Although this movie is bigger and splashier than the first movie. its less entertaining than the Dhoom I.

The film opens with a robbery in train somewhere in the desert of Namibia. The robbery is done by Aryan (Hritik) who leaves his symbol A after each robbery. Next we have intros for Uday and Abhishek. Uday goes to a gang to sell drugs and he’s caught by the gang from his ID card which shows him as a police officer. Enter Abhishek from water and we have some action and finally saves Uday and kills all the goondas.

Next we see Shonali (Bipasha) coming as police officer to investigate and nab this thief. Abhishek is quick to find out that the next target of robbery is in Mumbai. In spite of the tight security, Aryan flees with diamond from Mumbai. He also revels what he plans to steal next. In the next seen we have Sunehari (Ash) entering as another thief in search of the sword which Aryan plans to steal. Aryan helps Sunehari and they steal the sword.

Aryan and Sunehari join hands and flees from India to Brazil. Abhishek comes to knoe that Aryan is in Brazil, so he and Ali (Uday) comes to Brazil and meets Shonali’s twin sister Monali (Bipasha) and stays with her.

Rest of the story reveals how Abhishek and Uday nabs Aryan. The film is inspired from lot of hollywood films and the ending is anything but mysterious and we can most likely expect a Dhoom III.

• Abhishek Bachchan looks rugged and turns in a decent performance.
• Hrithik is charismatic but goes around as if he is still in the Krrish mode.
• Uday is good in his comedy and receives applause.
• Bipasha and Ash have given decent performances.

• Weak story line. Unlike the plot of Dhoom I, there is nothing much in the story line of Dhoom II.
• When Jai and Ali got to Brazil to nab Aryan, they dont seek the help of anyone, not even Brazilian Police.
• In the climax bike chase, Hrithik and Ash escape in Bike followed by Abhishek and Uday. They are riding in a hilly terrain road without any traffic. Then they enter a tunnel and suddenly its full of cars moving inside the tunnel.
• Ahbishek and Hrithik jump from a mountain and reach another cliff after coming down in a parachute. Suddenly Uday and Ash come up to this point. How did they reach that point is still a mystery.

Given its attractive star cast and hype — not to forget two energetic songs, one featuring Bipasha Basu and the other Hrithik Roshan — the film may still emerge as a crowd-pleaser.
